About stretch marks
Stretch marks are caused by the skin stretching past its elasticity point, and developing a weakness or tear in the collagen foundation. Genetics, the degree of skin stress, and other factors can weaken elastic fibers in the skin, allowing greater likelihood of developing stretch marks. Though keeping your skin well-moisturized may prevent stretch marks, treatment of stretch marks by rubbing lotion, creams, or oils on your skin has not been proven effective.
There are treatments that are effective at reducing the appearance of stretch marks, but it is important for patients to understand that even the most effective treatment(s) available may not completely eliminate stretch marks. Our providers have found that a combination of treatments is the most effective way to improve the quality of your skin and help stretch marks fade, and the procedures we offer are proven to be the most effective treatments for stretch marks.
If the appearance or abundance of stretch marks on your skin is troubling you, ask our providers about these options: SilkPeel Dermalinfusion, Fraxel, and microneedling (with or without PRP).
